Soulard Mardi Gras is an annual Carnival celebration in the historic Soulard neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri, that began informally in the early 1980s and has grown into one of the largest Mardi Gras celebrations in the United States outside New Orleans. Beginning informally at the now-closed Hilary's bar in the early 1980s, the celebration grew within a decade into a grand parade and masquerade-ball tradition set in a historic French-founded St. Louis neighborhood.
