Polish Fest Milwaukee in Milwaukee
Held each June at Henry Maier Festival Park on Milwaukee, Wisconsin's lakefront, Polish Fest celebrates the city's substantial Polish-American population with polka music, folk dance troupes, pierogi and kielbasa, and genealogy resources. Dating to the early 1980s, it is part of Milwaukee's cluster of major lakefront ethnic summer festivals.
Polish immigrants arrived in Milwaukee in large numbers beginning in the late nineteenth century, settling heavily on the city's south side and building a network of Catholic parishes, social clubs and businesses that made Milwaukee home to one of the largest Polish-American populations of any American city.
