The story

Morristown Festival on the Green in Morristown

The Morristown Festival on the Green is a free, family-friendly street fair held each September on and around Morristown's historic town Green in New Jersey. Launched in 1995 with about 65 exhibitors, it has grown to more than 165, filling downtown with three stages of live music, food trucks, a beer tent, carnival games, and a dedicated kids' area, all produced by the nonprofit Morristown Partnership to benefit downtown improvement projects.

Its historic green setting and scale make it a useful North Jersey row.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

What distinguishes the festival is its scale relative to a town of Morristown's size and its explicit civic purpose: proceeds are reinvested directly into downtown beautification and programming by the nonprofit Morristown Partnership, which has run the event since its 1995 debut

02

The mystery stays covered

The festival blends genuinely local touches, a Presbyterian Church blessing of the animals, a Chabad of Morristown guess-the-weight challah contest tied to the Jewish New Year, and a Morristown High School Interact Club fundraiser, with big-tent entertainment across three stages spanning salsa bands and classic rock

03

The city starts moving

Longtime civic institutions such as Atlantic Health, the Mayo Performing Arts Center, and the Morristown & Township Library return as fixtures year after year, giving the fair a strong sense of community continuity rather than a rotating cast of generic vendors
