Separation Day in New Castle
Separation Day opens Friday night with music, food, and drinks filling downtown New Castle, then shifts into a Colonial-inspired parade on Saturday morning with the Separation Day song sung along the route from printed lyrics. Fireworks over the Delaware River close out a weekend that marks the day Delaware split from Pennsylvania in June 1776.
On Friday night, the center of town fills with people carrying drinks, chasing food smells, and drifting between stages as music bounces off the brick streets of historic New Castle.
