Connecticut Maritime Heritage Festival in New London
The Connecticut Maritime Heritage Festival is a free annual September weekend produced by OpSail Connecticut along the New London waterfront, spanning Fort Trumbull State Park and Waterfront Park. It celebrates the state's seafaring history through visiting military and private ships, a Coast Guard helicopter rescue demonstration, dockside maritime skills challenges, a kids' nautical zone and fishing clinic, live music, food trucks, and a costumed retelling of the 1781 burning of New London.
New London's identity has always run through its harbor.
