Bavarian Blast in New Ulm
Bavarian Blast is a mid-July summer festival at the New Ulm fairgrounds in New Ulm, Minnesota, a city founded by German immigrants in 1854. The weekend blends live bands, a 10K race and walk, a parade, and Tubamania, growing out of the city's earlier Polka Days and Heritagefest celebrations of German-American heritage.
New Ulm was founded in 1854 by German immigrants organized through the German Land Company of Chicago and the socialist Turner Society, and the city named itself after Ulm on Germany's Danube River.
