Virginia Arts Festival in Norfolk
Established in 1997, the Virginia Arts Festival brings more than 250 performances of classical music, dance, theater, and world music to venues across Norfolk and Hampton Roads each season. The lineup has included Grammy-winning artists such as Yo-Yo Ma, Renée Fleming, and Wynton Marsalis, alongside international ballet companies and its own signature production, the Virginia International Tattoo.
The Virginia Arts Festival was established in 1997 with an ambition unusual for a mid-size American city: to build a genuine multi-genre performing arts season, rather than a single festival weekend, capable of attracting international-caliber artists to Norfolk and the wider Hampton Roads region.
