Virginia International Tattoo in Norfolk
The Virginia International Tattoo, staged each April in Norfolk since 1997, is the largest military tattoo in the United States, gathering over 900 performers, military bands, massed pipes and drums, drill teams, and dancers, from around the world. Produced by the Virginia Arts Festival, the multi-day production at Scope Arena honors American military service and international partnerships through precision drill and pageantry.
The Virginia International Tattoo was established in 1997 as a production of the newly formed Virginia Arts Festival, built around a military tradition with roots stretching back to seventeenth-century Europe.
