Ocean City's Sunfest, produced by the town's Special Events Department at the Inlet Lot since 1975, marked its fiftieth anniversary in October 2025 and now runs a Thursday-through-Sunday format designed to extend the resort's season past Labor Day. It combines two free outdoor music stages, ticketed evening tribute shows, and more than two hundred juried artisan exhibitors selling handmade work.

Ocean City's Special Events Department created Sunfest in 1975 with a clear strategic goal: draw visitors to the resort town after Labor Day and stretch its tourist season beyond the traditional summer months, a purpose the town's own promotional materials still describe directly.
