New Hampshire Film Festival in Portsmouth
The New Hampshire Film Festival is an annual October event in downtown Portsmouth, founded in 2001 and relocated from Derry in 2004. Screening over 100 independent films across four days at multiple venues, the festival has been an Academy Awards-qualifying festival for Short Film Awards since 2021, drawing roughly 10,000 attendees.
In 2001, organizers in Derry, New Hampshire launched what they called the New Hampshire Film Expo, a modest effort to give the state's independent filmmakers a dedicated showcase.
