Rehoboth Beach Independent Film Festival in Rehoboth Beach

The Rehoboth Beach Independent Film Festival, produced by the nonprofit Rehoboth Beach Film Society since its 1998 founding, screens features, documentaries, and shorts each November at the Cinema Art Theater and other venues around Rehoboth Beach and Lewes. The week-long festival has since rebranded as the Rehoboth Beach International Film Festival while keeping its original independent-film roots.

In February 1998, a small group of Sussex County residents, among them future craft-brewery founder Mariah Calagione, along with Rob Rector, Barry Becker, Joyce Felton, and Tom and Patti Shreeve, founded the Rehoboth Beach Film Society with an idea: bring an independent film festival to a beach town better known for its boardwalk than its cinema culture.
