Artown in Reno
Artown is a month-long arts festival held every July in Reno, Nevada, presenting hundreds of free and low-cost events spanning theater, dance, music, film, and visual art. Founded in 1996, it centers much of its programming at Wingfield Park, an island amphitheater along the Truckee River in downtown Reno, and has grown into one of the largest community arts festivals of its kind in the country.
Artown was founded in Reno, Nevada, in 1996 with an ambitious premise: rather than scattering arts programming across the calendar in the conventional way most cities do, concentrate an entire seasons worth of theater, dance, music, film, and visual art into a single month, transforming July into a citywide arts season with enough density and visibility to genuinely shift how residents and visitors think about Reno culturally.
