RiceFest in Riceboro

RiceFest is Riceboro, Georgia's annual heritage festival, launched in 2007 to celebrate Gullah Geechee culture tied to the rice plantation economy that once shaped coastal Liberty County. Spread across the first two weekends of November, the festival combines a youth essay contest, GospelFest, a parade, a rice cook-off and a culminating Festival Day of food, music and craft vendors that now draws thousands of visitors.

Riceboro, Georgia's civic leaders launched RiceFest in 2007 to commemorate the Gullah Geechee people whose ancestors worked the rice plantations that once dominated this stretch of Liberty County's coastal lowlands.
