Washington County Fair in Richmond
The Washington County Fair is an annual agricultural fair held in Richmond, Rhode Island, in the southern Rhode Island region generally known as South County, generally understood to feature livestock exhibits, agricultural competitions, carnival rides, and food vendors typical of a traditional county fair.
Rhode Island's smallest-in-the-nation land area has not prevented it from maintaining a meaningful agricultural sector, particularly in South County, the informal name for Washington County's rural southern Rhode Island towns including Richmond, where farmland has persisted even as much of the state urbanized around Providence and its surrounding cities.
