Days of 47 Parade in Salt Lake City
The Days of '47 Parade is a three-hour parade held each July 24, Pioneer Day, through downtown Salt Lake City, presented by the nonprofit Days of '47, Inc. Commemorating the 1847 arrival of Brigham Young's Mormon pioneer company in the Salt Lake Valley, the parade features floats sponsored by LDS Church wards, businesses, and community groups, marching bands, horses, and a Native American pre-parade contingent.
On July 24, 1849, just two years after Brigham Young and a company of Mormon pioneers first entered the Salt Lake Valley, Salt Lake City held a parade to mark the anniversary.
