Obon Festival at San Jose Buddhist Church Betsuin in San Jose
The Obon Festival at San Jose Buddhist Church Betsuin fills San Jose's Japantown each July with Bon Odori folk dancing, taiko drumming, and food and craft booths, drawing what organizers describe as the largest Obon Odori dancer turnout in Northern California, with more than a thousand dancers circling the yagura tower each night of the two-day event.
It is a strong community-rooted religious and cultural event in the Bay Area.
