Sacred Springs Powwow in San Marcos
The Sacred Springs Powwow is an annual two-day gathering held on the shores of Spring Lake in San Marcos, Texas, organized by the nonprofit Indigenous Cultures Institute. Now in its 16th year as of the 2026 edition, it draws several thousand visitors for intertribal dance competitions, drum groups, storytelling, and a market of Native American artisans, set at one of the longest continuously inhabited sites in North America.
Its connection to the sacred springs area gives it strong place-based significance.
