Santa Fe Fiesta in Santa Fe

Fiestas de Santa Fe is a week-long community celebration held in September, one of the oldest continuously observed community festivals in the United States, dating to a 1712 proclamation commemorating the 1692 Spanish reconquest of the city. Modern Fiesta blends Novena masses and religious processions with a Historical Hysterical Parade, a Children's Pet Parade, mariachi music, and Plaza arts and food booths, and is traditionally launched by the Kiwanis Club's burning of Zozobra.

Fiestas de Santa Fe claims a history longer than nearly any other community celebration in the United States, tracing to a proclamation signed on September 16, 1712, declaring an annual observance of the 1692 reoccupation of Santa Fe by Spanish colonists under Don Diego de Vargas.
