The story

Santa Fe Pride in Santa Fe

Santa Fe Pride is an annual LGBTQIA+ celebration held on the Santa Fe Plaza during the last weekend of June, organized by the Human Rights Alliance of Santa Fe (HRA), a nonprofit founded in 1993. The festival combines a parade of floats, cars, and walking contingents with a Plaza festival of community and vendor booths, and drew more than 15,000 attendees in 2025, making it one of the region's largest celebrations of equality and inclusion.

Santa Fe Pride exists because a piece of legislation failed.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

HRA was founded after a legislative defeat: New Mexico's Senate Bill 91, a civil rights measure for lesbians and gay men, failed to pass, and local activists organized in response, forming a nonprofit dedicated to ending discrimination and building coalitions for LGBTQIA+ civil rights statewide

02

The mystery stays covered

In 2026 the organization marked its 33rd consecutive year running Pride Santa Fe, and beyond the festival, HRA now operates a year-round PRIDE Center offering weekly peer support groups for seniors, trans and non-binary members, women, and queer youth, plus a scholarship at Santa Fe Community College

03

The city starts moving

New Mexico is frequently cited as one of the safer states for LGBTQIA+ residents, and Pride's continued growth is treated by organizers as part of sustaining that reputation
