Skimmer Festival in Sea Isle City

Skimmer Festival takes over Sea Isle City, New Jersey's oceanfront Promenade each June with a free weekend of craft vendors, a food court, live music and family activities including face painting, sand art, balloon art and bounce houses. Started in 1963 as a way to announce the town's recovery from the devastating 1962 Ash Wednesday Storm, the festival has run for more than sixty years as a Jersey Shore summer tradition.

Sea Isle City's oceanfront Promenade along JFK Boulevard fills each June with a two-day festival born out of disaster recovery: the Skimmer Festival began in 1963, the year after the catastrophic Ash Wednesday Storm of March 1962 devastated much of the New Jersey shore, when local community leaders organized the event specifically to signal that Sea Isle City was rebuilt and open for summer business again.
