Seafair in Seattle
Seafair is Seattle's signature summer festival, running from June through August with events culminating in hydroplane races and a Blue Angels air show on Lake Washington each August. The multi-week celebration includes neighborhood parades, a torchlight parade through downtown, and the Seafair Pirates, a costumed civic group that has appeared at community events since the 1940s.
For much of the summer, Seattle's civic calendar runs through Seafair, a season-long series of events that builds from neighborhood parades and community festivals toward a marquee weekend in early August when unlimited-class hydroplane boats, some capable of speeds exceeding 200 miles per hour, race across Lake Washington while the U.S.
