State Fair of Louisiana in Shreveport
The State Fair of Louisiana is the state's official fair, held each fall at the State Fairgrounds in Shreveport since the early twentieth century. The multi-week event combines a full carnival midway, livestock and agricultural competitions, concerts, a rodeo and Louisiana-fried fair food into the largest fair of its kind in the state.
Shreveport, in the northwest corner of Louisiana along the Red River, has hosted the state's official fair since the early twentieth century, when Louisiana, like most American states, established a centralized state fair to showcase agricultural achievement, livestock breeding and rural life alongside entertainment for a broader public audience.
