Clay County Fair in Spencer
Clay County Fair is a nine-day fair in Spencer, Iowa, self-branded The World's Greatest County Fair, running each September since its 1918 debut. The 2025 edition drew a record 310,907 attendees, with more than 450 commercial vendors, extensive 4-H and open-class competitions, grandstand concerts and racing, and a genuine trip through the fair's 1931 grandstand.
Clay County Fair traces its founding to 1917, when the Clay County Fair Association organized in Spencer, Iowa, holding its first modern fair the following year in 1918, just weeks before the Armistice ended World War I.
