Japanese Fall Festival in Springfield
The Japanese Fall Festival is an annual celebration of Japanese culture held each September at the Mizumoto Japanese Stroll Garden within Springfield Botanical Gardens at Nathanael Greene and Close Memorial Park in Springfield, Missouri. Produced by the Springfield Sister Cities Association with the Springfield-Greene County Park Board, it marks the city's sister-city relationship with Isesaki, Japan, formed in 1986, and features performers exchanged between the two cities.
The Japanese Fall Festival exists because of a formal civic relationship rather than a general enthusiasm for Japanese culture: Springfield, Missouri, and Isesaki, Japan, established a sister-city partnership in 1986, and the festival grew into the most visible annual expression of that bond.
