The Stamford Downtown Parade Spectacular is an annual holiday parade that has opened the winter season in downtown Stamford, Connecticut since 1993. What began as a modest Black Friday event escorting Santa Claus to the Stamford Town Center mall grew, after giant helium balloons were added in 1997, into one of the largest balloon parades in the country, now drawing well over one hundred thousand spectators each late November.

In 1993, the holiday season in downtown Stamford began with something modest: a Black Friday procession meant to walk Santa Claus from one end of downtown to the Stamford Town Center mall, trailed by a small petting zoo and a handful of local performers.
