Pine Tree Festival and Southeast Timber Expo in Swainsboro
The Pine Tree Festival and Southeast Timber Expo has run in Swainsboro, Georgia since Kiwanis Club members started it as a spring community fair in 1946, making it one of Georgia's longest continually running festivals. A 2008 expansion added a formal timber-industry exposition, and the modern event combines a Grand Parade, lumberjack shows, a car show, live concerts and Civil War reenactors along downtown Swainsboro's Main Street.
Swainsboro's Kiwanis Club started the Pine Tree Festival in early May 1946, giving Emanuel County a spring celebration tied to the pine timber industry that has driven the local economy for generations.
