Maryland State Fair in Timonium

The Maryland State Fair runs three non-consecutive long weekends each late August into September at the Timonium fairgrounds, combining horse racing, 4-H and FFA livestock competitions, a midway, and a juried new-food competition. Traceable to an 1878 charity event and formalized through a 1906 merger of two rival county fairs, it is run by the nonprofit Maryland State Fair and Agricultural Society.

The Maryland State Fair traces its origin to September 17, 1878, when Grafton Marsh Bosley organized a charity event near Towson that grew into an annual Lutherville fair.
