Turkish Festival DC in Washington
The Turkish Festival transforms Pennsylvania Avenue NW into a one-day showcase of Turkish culture each fall, organized by the American Turkish Association of Washington DC. Now more than two decades old, it draws over 20,000 visitors for Turkish cuisine, folk dance performances, hand-woven carpets, and traditional Turkish coffee fortune-telling.
The American Turkish Association of Washington DC, known as ATA-DC, was founded in 1965 to support and represent the Turkish-American community in the capital region, long before it began organizing the outdoor festival now associated with its name.
