National Cattle Congress Fair in Waterloo

National Cattle Congress Fair is a historic agricultural fair at the National Cattle Congress fairgrounds in Waterloo, founded in 1910 and reaching its 116th annual edition in 2026. Despite surviving a 1993 bankruptcy and the 1996 closure of an on-site greyhound track, the fair continues each late September with livestock competitions, PRCA rodeos, and a full carnival midway.

National Cattle Congress Fair traces its origin to 1910, when what began as an Iowa State Dairy Association cow exhibition, first held in Cedar Rapids in 1909, relocated to Waterloo's Chautauqua Park and drew 62 cows and more than 5,000 attendees to its first Waterloo edition.
