Atlantidoc in Atlantida/Montevideo
Atlantidoc, formally the Festival Internacional de Cine Documental del Uruguay, is Uruguay's leading documentary film festival, held annually in the beach town of Atlantida, Canelones department, since 2006. Reaching its 17th edition in 2023 and continuing through at least 2026, it screens Uruguayan and international nonfiction films and awards a prize for best national documentary.
In 2006, in the old neighborhood cinema of Atlantida, a beach resort town in Canelones department roughly forty minutes from Montevideo, a small group of organizers launched a documentary film festival with modest ambitions.
