Fiestas de la Virgen de la Candelaria de Bailadores is the patron saint feast of Bailadores, Merida state, held each February 2 at the town's Santuario Diocesano Nuestra Senora de la Candelaria, part of a devotion to the Virgin of Candelaria brought to Venezuela by Canary Islands immigrant families in the late seventeenth century.
The cult of the Virgin of Candelaria arrived in Venezuela in the final third of the seventeenth century, carried by a considerable wave of families originating in the Canary Islands who settled across various regions of the country and brought devotion to their patroness with them wherever they established new communities.
