Fiesta de San Juan in Barlovento/Aragua/La Guaira/Carabobo
The Fiesta de San Juan honours Saint John the Baptist each June 23-25 in Afro-descended Venezuelan communities, most prominently Curiepe in the Barlovento region of Miranda state, with drumming on mina and curbata drums, ritual chants and collective dance recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2021.
Every June 24, communities across Venezuela's regions with the strongest Afro-descended heritage bring out their drums for Saint John the Baptist.
