Festival Internacional de Teatro de Caracas in Caracas
The Festival Internacional de Teatro de Caracas (FITC) was founded in 1973 by Argentine-Venezuelan director Carlos Gimenez, together with Maria Teresa Castillo, as a biennial international theatre festival based in Caracas, bringing companies and productions from across Latin America, Europe and the United States to the city through the early 1990s.
Carlos Gimenez arrived in Venezuela from Argentina already a working theatre director, but it was in Caracas that he built an institution.
