The Tamunangue, or Sones de Negro, is a devotional performance tradition born in El Tocuyo and practiced across Lara state towns each June 12-13 in honour of San Antonio de Padua, combining seven distinct musical and dance sones and declared Cultural Heritage of the Nation in 2014.

In the Lara state town of El Tocuyo, a tradition took shape at least three centuries ago that would come to define religious devotion across the wider region.
