Feria de San Jose de Maracay in Maracay
The Feria de San Jose is Maracay's annual patron saint celebration, held each March in Aragua state around the March 19 feast of Saint Joseph. The program blends a rociera mass and procession with the election of a fair queen, agro-industrial and craft exhibits, bullfighting events, and a street parade down Avenida Bolivar.
Each March, Maracay, the capital of Aragua state in north-central Venezuela, turns its attention to the Ferias de San Jose, a patron-saint celebration whose roots reach back to the city's earliest municipal life.
