Fiestas de Santa Lucia in Yaritagua/Cumana
Yaritagua, in Yaracuy state, celebrates its patron saint feast for Santa Lucia every December 13, a Catholic tradition honoring the patron of the blind and of eyesight that is also observed, under local variations, in Maracaibo and in Magdaleno, Aragua.
Santa Lucia de Siracusa, an early Christian martyr venerated across the Catholic world, holds patron-saint status in several Venezuelan towns, and Yaritagua, in Yaracuy state, is one of the clearest examples, marking her as its patron saint with a feast celebrated every December 13.
