Hoi An Nguyen Tieu Festival in Hoi An
The Hoi An Nguyen Tieu Festival is the Hoa (ethnic Chinese) community's Lunar New Year lantern festival, held on the 16th day of the first lunar month at the Chaozhou and Cantonese assembly halls in Hoi An's ancient town. It is distinct from Hoi An's better-known monthly Lantern Full Moon Festival held on the 14th of every lunar month.
Hoi An's fame rests largely on its monthly Lantern Full Moon Festival, when the ancient town switches off its electric lights on the 14th day of every lunar month and lets paper lanterns take over.
