The story

Agricultural and Commercial Show in Lusaka Showgrounds

The Zambia Agricultural and Commercial Show is the country's largest trade and farming exhibition, first held in 1919 during the colonial Northern Rhodesia era and staged annually at Lusaka Showgrounds since becoming a fixed yearly event by the mid-20th century. Organised today by the Agricultural and Commercial Society of Zambia, it showcases farming, manufacturing, technology and finance.

The Zambia Agricultural and Commercial Show traces its origins to 1919, when the territory now known as Zambia was still the British colony of Northern Rhodesia.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

Few events on Zambia's calendar carry a documented history stretching back more than a century: the show's first edition ran in 1919, when Zambia was still the British colony of Northern Rhodesia, making it one of the oldest continuously evolving public exhibitions in the country

02

The mystery stays covered

What began as an irregular showcase of colonial-era farming and industrial output grew, after Zambian independence in 1964, into a broader trade fair spanning manufacturing, technology and finance alongside agriculture, drawing exhibitors and visitors from neighbouring countries and international partners to Lusaka Showgrounds each year
