Himara International Music Festival in Himare
A classical and chamber music festival founded in 2022 to revive live music after the pandemic, staged at Himara Castle and All Saints' Church, featuring performers like pianist Matthias Kirschnereit and cellist Ana Carla Maza as a cultural alternative to the Riviera's electronic scene. Its founding mission to serve Himara's seven surrounding villages gives it a genuinely community-rooted long-term ambition.
Himara International Music Festival emerged directly out of necessity, launched in 2022 specifically to revive live music after nearly two years of almost total artistic silence during the pandemic, while simultaneously establishing a genuinely cultural and classically minded alternative to the electronic dance music that otherwise dominates the Albanian Riviera's festival calendar further north.
