Algiers International Symphonic Music Festival in Algiers
A spring festival at the Algiers Opera House dedicated entirely to full orchestral repertoire, bringing Algerian and international symphony orchestras together for a week of concerts spanning European classics and contemporary works, alongside masterclasses that pair visiting musicians with local conservatory students inside the capital's main concert hall.
An orchestra pit built for opera now hosts a festival dedicated entirely to symphonic repertoire: the Algiers International Cultural Festival of Symphonic Music was established in 2009 by Algeria's Ministry of Culture and the Arts and has run at the Algiers Opera House, named for tenor Boualem Bessaih, ever since.
