Albert Hughes Memorial Boat Race in Meads Bay
A June A Class boat race at Meads Bay honouring Captain Albert Hughes, a 27-year Anguillian political leader and owner of the legendary racing boat Light and Peace, founded by his family on his 100th birthday anniversary in 2019, continuing his own sailing legacy each year.
The Albert Hughes Memorial race honours a man whose life was woven into both Anguillian politics and its sailing culture: Captain Albert Hughes, who served his West End community and country for 27 years as an Elected Representative, Minister and Parliamentary Secretary, while also owning Light and Peace, one of the legendary racing boats in Anguilla's traditional A Class fleet.
