Antigua Sailing Week in English Harbour/Falmouth Harbour

Antigua Sailing Week began in 1967 when hoteliers Peter Deeth and Desmond Nicholson formed a club to race Sailfish dinghies, growing into the first official Sailing Week the following year under the Antigua Hotel Association, with its classic-boat fleet splitting off in 1988 to form the Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta; it now draws roughly 100 yachts, 1,500 participants and 5,000 spectators in an average year.

Antigua Sailing Week traces its beginnings to 1967, when hoteliers Peter Deeth and Desmond Nicholson formed a club to race Sailfish dinghies on Sunday mornings, partly to help extend the island's winter tourism season by giving visitors a reason to stay longer.
