The story

RORC Caribbean 600 in English Harbour

The RORC Caribbean 600 was conceived at the Antigua Yacht Club and first raced in 2008 as the Caribbean's first offshore ocean race, a non-stop 600-mile course starting and finishing in Antigua that weaves around eleven islands, decided under the IRC Rating Rule and forming part of the RORC Season's Points Championship, now ranked alongside classics like the Fastnet, Bermuda and Sydney-Hobart races.

The RORC Caribbean 600 began as an idea discussed over drinks at the Antigua Yacht Club between John Burnie of the Royal Ocean Racing Club and several club members, before being first raced in 2008 and establishing itself as the Caribbean's first offshore ocean race.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

Few offshore races have earned comparison to classics like the Fastnet, Bermuda and Sydney-Hobart races within just over a decade, but the RORC Caribbean 600 has, thanks to its genuinely complex 600-mile course weaving around eleven islands rather than a simple point-to-point route

02

The mystery stays covered

The Antigua Yacht Club's round-the-clock volunteer watch system welcoming every finishing boat home, at whatever hour it arrives, also gives the race a distinctly personal, community-backed reputation among offshore sailors

03

The city starts moving

As the Caribbean's first offshore ocean race, it also holds a genuine claim to regional pioneer status within its sport
