Buenos Aires International Theatre Festival in Buenos Aires
The Buenos Aires city government's flagship multidisciplinary performing arts festival, running since 1997, mixing local independent theatre with international touring productions, dance, music, and visual arts. Performances are staged across scattered venues in different neighborhoods, from grand municipal theatres to small independent black-box spaces, rather than concentrated in one district.
FIBA, the Festival Internacional de Buenos Aires, began in 1997 as a citywide multidisciplinary event rather than a theatre festival in the narrow sense, and that scope has held even as its scheduling has shifted repeatedly over nearly three decades.
