Serenata a Cafayate in Cafayate
A multi-night folk-music gathering held inside a former winery in Salta's Calchaqui Valleys, mixing formal concerts with all-night penas. Chamame, zamba and chacarera acts perform against a backdrop of vineyards and adobe walls, and the event has spawned its own signature song, popularized by singer El Chaqueno Palavecino. A cornerstone of Argentina's folk circuit since the mid-1970s.
The venue is a converted winery called La Bodega Encantada, and it has hosted this folk-music gathering above Cafayate's vineyards since 1976, two years after the event's creation by local promoter Arnaldo Etchart.
