National Foal Festival in Coronel Vidal
A yearling-horse auction at the center of a rural festival near Coronel Vidal, held since 1979 alongside polo, sortija races, and jineteada riding. What began with a single group of friends organizing a livestock sale has grown into a national-level festival with its own dedicated grounds since 2016.
Coronel Vidal's foal festival began, in March 1979, as an auction — a group of friends who called themselves Centro Tradicionalista Arbolito organized an exhibition and sale of yearling horses, or potrillos, on land known as the Arbolito estate, and that livestock sale has remained the event's central activity ever since even as the surrounding program has grown.
