Cosquin National Folklore Festival in Cosquin
Argentina's flagship folk-music festival, staged for nine consecutive nights every January at Cosquín's Plaza Próspero Molina since 1961. Built originally to rebrand the Córdoba mountain town away from its history as a tuberculosis-recovery destination, it has since become the country's premier launching stage for folklore careers.
Cosquín built its folk festival partly to shed a reputation as a tuberculosis-recovery town and give visitors a reason to stay overnight instead of passing through.
