A flower festival and float parade in Escobar, running since 1964 and tied to a floriculture industry the town traces to Japanese immigrants who arrived in 1929. The centerpiece corso parades flower-covered floats through the town center, alongside a permanent 170,000-square-meter floral park built for the festival.
Escobar's flower festival began modestly in 1964, staged at the Club Sportivo Escobar by the local Rotary Club, four years before a national decree in 1968 gave it official status as a National Festival, a jump from a single club fundraiser to a government-recognized event in less than a decade.
