National Dorado Festival in Paso de la Patria

Argentina's oldest continuously run sport-fishing tournament, held on the Parana River in Paso de la Patria, Corrientes since 1963. Anglers from Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay compete for dorado, alongside a folk-music program, trade fair and the election of a festival ambassador. Dorado, a golden, hard-fighting river fish, is regarded as the country's most prestigious sport-fishing target, and the small riverside town's entire tourism economy is built around access to its fishing grounds.
