Villa María's Anfiteatro Municipal opened on January 5, 1968, purpose-built for a peña festival that had outgrown the town's scattered folk clubs, giving the city's folkloric community its first dedicated home — the idea took shape a few years earlier, in 1965, when a peña called Talamochita began drawing crowds beyond its own membership.
